CONGRATULATIONS!!!  Dr. Olaf Böhlke, assistant professor of German at Creighton University is the 2022 Nebraska German Educator of the Year.  

Trinia Perigo, German teacher at Columbus, was named NILA Young Educator of the Year at our conference on Saturday, Oct. 22, in Crete.  Trinia was also the winner of the German basket during the raffle.

Why join AATG???


Nominations are now open for Outstanding German Teacher of the Year.  Applications are due by October 1.  Nominees must be AATG members.  Send your nomination and support letters to Pat Branson by October 1.  The TOY will be announced at NILA in Crete on October 22.  (Document is in the Awards tab.)

There is a Stammtisch meeting every other Friday at German-American Society.  The next meeting will be February 3 starting at 5:30.  You do not need to be a member of GAS to join in the conversations.  Food and beverages available.   

NILA 2023 is tentatively set for October 14 in Omaha.  We will have a short business meeting during the day.

Omaha Stammtisch opportunity--all are invited to join us.  We're trying to meet once a month on Friday afternoons at various locations.  

A Lincoln Stammtisch is also available on Sunday afternoons.  

A German Literature meet-up discusses a German short story online on alternate weeks.  Search Omaha Meet-Up for information and contact info or contact Pat Branson (bransonp@hotmail.com)

NATIONAL GERMAN EXAM 
The National German Exam is administered each year to nearly 22,000 high school students in the second, third and fourth level of German. The Exam, now in its 57th year, provides individual diagnostic feedback, rewards students through an extensive prize program, and creates a sense of accomplishment. 

 The Exam period is December 1-January 31. Registration begins October 1.

Why join AATG? When you are a member of AATG, you are AUTOMATICALLY a member of our Nebraska chapter.  Nebraska German teachers stick together and are available to help when needed.  Our Nebraska chapter meets at least twice a year.  Nebraska AATG  hosts the State German Students' Convention, hosts an awards tea for students who score well on the AATG National Exam.  Omaha-area German teachers meet regularly for Stammtisch.  A group of retired German teachers now also meets regularly.
