The AATG offers awards for outstanding teaching and service each year.  Our chapter may nominate candidates each year for the awards.

Outstanding Educator Award and Checkpoint Charlie Foundation Scholarship:  One at the elementary, secondary and college/university level is chosen each year.  Awarded by the AATG for excellence in teaching, as evidenced by the individual's ability to stimulate and challenge students intellectually; and for the teacher's professional growth and contributions, by the ability to influence the quality of education in classrooms other than one's own, and by the contributions to the academic environment outside the classroom.

ISE Language Matters Award:  One award per year, sponsored by Intercultural Student Experience to recognize a high school teacher who has achieved outstanding success in getting students to speak German through exemplary motivation and creative methods; in addition, the winner shall be a teacher who has provided authentic immersion experiences outside the classroom for students to apply their speaking skills.

AATG/Goethe Institute Certificate of Merit:  Up to ten are presented each year for outstanding achievement in furthering the teaching of German in schools at all levels in the US.

German Embassy Teacher of Excellence Awards:  Awarded by the German Embassy to up-and-coming German teachers for excellence in teaching, creativity, outstanding dedication, and enthusiasm for the German language.  This award was created in 2008.

AATG Friend of German Award:  One or two each year recognize outstanding support for and promotion of German and the stufy of German at the local, regional, or national level.
